It will be nice if you can take a back up copy of all files from your system before going to start updating BIOS. It will not target data in your hard drive, but it is better in maintaining backup. You can access files and continue work with them on another system, if you have backup on a removable drive. It will be good if you maintain backup of your BIOS too. In some cases it will done as a part of updating procedure. But don’t skip this backup option if you have to do it manually.

First, check with the present version of your BIOS by pressing Win key+ R and type msinfo32. A window will appear, select system summary and you can able to find BIOS version.

Just navigate to a laptop manufacturer’s page and search for support link. Then search your model number and choose one from the list to download.
